I recently had cataract surgery at the eye clinic in Exeter under the care of Mr Ling and his team.
I’m incredibly grateful for the outcome and the care I received throughout the process.
Before the surgery I was struggling with increasingly misty vision and relied on glasses for both reading and distance vision.
I was very nervous about the procedure — so much so the anaesthetist recognised my apprehension and offered a small oral sedative, which made a world of difference. It helped me to stay calm and in control.
The surgery itself was surprisingly quick and completely comfortable.
I had several weeks between each eye surgery, but each took less than 10 minutes, and I felt very at ease in the hands of such a professional and reassuring team.
I have been lucky enough to have been offered a new dynamic lens called a Galaxy. Mr Ling explained the clever new design which seems to blend my vision, enabling me to see both near, middle and distant objects without lines or light distortions. There is no delay in the vision adjusting.
Although my eyes took longer than expected to recover, which was particular to me with some corneal swelling, it took around 6 weeks per eye for my vision to fully improve. The end result has been life-changing.
I now no longer need glasses for reading or driving, and the clarity of my vision is something I hadn’t experienced in years.
To anyone feeling anxious about cataract surgery, I completely understand — I felt the same way. But with the right team and great support, the experience and results were truly worth it. I’d like to thank Mr Ling and his team for their skill, care and kindness throughout a challenging time for me.

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional care I received during my recent cataract surgery on both eyes. The entire experience, from the initial consultation to the post-operative care, was outstanding.
First and foremost, I want to thank Mr Ling for his skill and professionalism. The results from the Galaxy spiral IOL lenses are truly transformative. The clarity and quality of my vision now exceed my expectations, and I feel as though I have been given a new perspective on the world. It was incredibly reassuring to know that the procedure was handled with such precision and care.
I also want to highly commend Mr Ling‘s entire team. The friendliness and efficiency displayed by every staff member made what could have been a stressful process remarkably smooth and pleasant. Their dedication to a flawless patient journey truly reflects the high standards the entire team uphold.

I wanted to show my appreciation to all the staff at the Medical Eye Clinic for the excellent care I was given for my cataract operations.
I have always been worried by the idea of having cataract operations but after a telephone conversation with the lead nurse I was reassured that my concerns would be considered and that having the sedative would mean I was not panicked by the surgery. I was able to go ahead without getting overwhelmed by anxiety and in fact felt very supported by all the staff so please thank everyone.
I also felt very confident in Mr Ling after he explained so well how the operation would go and what might be the best lens for me. I understood that the Ray Pro Galaxy that would give vision at all distances.
I am so pleased that I can now see and read everything. At this point after the surgery there is still some adjustment and settling in for both eyes working together but it looks as if I will not need glasses. It is freeing not to have to keep getting glasses out for things like parking meters, instructions on food packaging and the minor down side is I can now see the dust in my house and what needs cleaning!!

I would like to put on record my delight at the result of my recent surgery for cataracts:
My hobbies include reading, choral singing, theatre and orchestral concerts, playing golf and watching live cricket – all having different focussing requirements. I thought that it set quite a task for Mr Ling to accommodate with replacement lenses. But, the result has been spectacular and I cannot thank Mr Ling and his team enough.
To say that I am delighted is an understatement! Please pass on my thanks to everyone involved.
