Vitreo Retina Surgery at The Medical Eye Clinic

Vitreo Retinal Surgery, commonly referred to as Vitrectomy,  is used to treat symptomatic floaters, retinal detachment, macular hole and epiretinal membrane.

Vitreo-retinal surgery is typically performed as a day-case procedure, offering the convenience of going home on the same day as the surgery. Under local anaesthesia with sedation, our team ensures your comfort throughout the process.

The Vitreo-Retinal Surgery

Through three small keyhole openings, the surgeon will meticulously extract the vitreous gel located in the posterior part of the eye. During the surgery, the vitreous gel will be substituted with a suitable substance depending on your specific needs. These substances serve a crucial role in stabilizing and securing the retina, acting as a protective buffer after the completion of the surgery.

Rest assured, our dedicated surgeon will thoroughly explain all the details in advance and will be available to address any queries or concerns you may have throughout the entire process.

How long does Vitreo-Retinal Surgery take

The duration of vitreo-retinal surgery may vary between 30 minutes to one hour, contingent upon the nature and intricacy of the specific ocular ailment being addressed.
